Nelda Mae Flint

Nelda Mae Flint died peacefully at her home in Shelton on May 24, 2022, one day after her 94th birthday. Nelda was born May 23, 1928 in San Diego, California and was one of five children, brother Bob and sisters Noreen, Ardis and Verla.

Nelda married Wilbur H. Flint on September 1, 1946, and got right to work on raising a family with Maxine born the following June, followed over the years by Christine, Adele and Willie. Nelda was an excellent homemaker and enjoyed foraging for little wild blackberries and picking the cherries and raspberries growing in our yard. She would make homemade jam plus can Yakima peaches and pears, along with baking everything from bread to cream puffs. Her homemade chocolate fudge was a family favorite. She also loved to sew and do handiwork such as crocheting and counted cross stitch. She loved fishing and was the champion of our family when it came to fishing for salmon on the Westport charters. But for her, the best was baseball, especially the Seattle Mariners. She was the self-titled #1 Mariner's baseball fan and loved that role. She enjoyed attending the games in person and was able to attend a few Spring Training sessions in Arizona, as well. She and her favorite player, Jay Buhner were even on a first name basis. Nelda was an awesome Grandma and was blessed to have 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Nelda was predeceased by her beloved husband Wilbur, her brother Bob and sisters Ardis and Verla. She is survived by her sister Noreen Plancich, and four children: Maxine (Bud deceased) Evans, Christine (Steve) Stoll, Adele (Denis) Leverich and Willie (Michell deceased) Flint, and her grandchildren.

Interment will take place at Shelton Memorial Park, date to be determined.
