Shelton Softball
Shelton softball earned its first win of the season against Lakes 18-16 on March 15 in Shelton.
The Highclimbers fell to Rochester in its first Evergreen Conference game 9-7 on March 18 at home. Shelton took on Tumwater on Monday and lost 19-5 in Shelton.
Shelton hit the road to play Centralia on Wednesday before returning home to face Olympic in a nonleague game Friday. The Highclimbers travel to Chehalis on Monday for an EvCo game against W.F. West.
Girls tennis
The Shelton girls tennis team kicked off its season with a 5-0 loss to River Ridge in a nonleague match in Lacey on March 17.
Shelton began Evergreen Conference matches on Wednesday on the road against Black Hills. The Highclimbers play their first match of the season at home against W.F. West on Monday.
Track
Shelton track and field started the season with a dual meet against W.F. West in Chehalis, losing the boys and girls matches.
In girls results, the Highclimbers lost 113-31. Shelton’s Tatum Dickey won the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:06.82. Ali Clifton won the 1,600-meter race with a time of 5:42.91. Taylin VanDyke won the discus with a throw of 79 feet, 6 inches.
Faith Linthicum finished second in the 1,600-meter race with a time of 6:11.15. Mary Jane Hagerman placed second in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 56.96. VanDyke earned second in the shot put with a distance of 25 feet, 8 inches. Quin Neal took second in the high jump with a height of 4 feet, 6 inches.
In boys results, W.F. West won 77-67. Kaden Pearson won the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.81 and the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.08. Gabriel Menefee won the 400-meter dash in 56.07 seconds. Jacob Miller won the 3200-meter race in 10:27.25. Donald Hageman won the 300-meter hurdles in 50.02 seconds. The 4x100 relay team of Leighton Gooding, Nathan Gomez, Bradely Eleton and Pearson won with a time of 45.93.
Anthony Warren-Keyzers won the shot put with a throw of 46 feet, 6 inches and the discus with a throw of 110 feet, 8 inches. Jaron Sartori won the triple jump with a leap of 38 feet, 5 inches.
Shelton’s next competition was Tuesday against Centralia and Aberdeen at Tiger Stadium in Centralia. The Highclimbers will head to the Curtis Viking Relay Championship on Saturday.
Boys soccer
The Highclimbers opened the season with a 2-0 loss to W.F. West in Chehalis on March 18.
Shelton played its first home game of the season on Tuesday against Black Hills and will host Aberdeen on Monday in an EvCo match.
North Mason Baseball
The North Mason baseball team earned its first win of the season 7-5 on the road against Coupeville on March 19.
The Bulldogs (1-1) played its first Olympic League game Tuesday against Bremerton. North Mason hosts Sequim today and Kingston at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Girls golf
North Mason girls golf started off the season with two losses to Port Angeles and Bremerton.
The Bulldogs played at Peninsula Golf Course in Port Angeles on March 10, falling to the Roughriders 272-230. North Mason hosted Bremerton at LakeLand Village on March 17 and fell just short, losing 132-129.
North Mason travels to Dungeness Golf Course to take on Sequim today in an Olympic League match.
Boys soccer
The Bulldogs lost its home and away openers to begin the spring sports season.
North Mason lost 4-0 to Sequim in a road game March 15 before returning to Belfair for its home opener March 17, losing to Bainbridge 4-0.
North Mason traveled to Port Angeles on Tuesday. The Bulldogs host Bremerton today in an Olympic League match.
Softball
North Mason softball defeated Elma before falling to Eatonville last week.
The Bulldgos won 13-12 over Elma in Belfair on March 17. Eatonville traveled to North Mason on Saturday and left with a 19-1 win.
North Mason traveled to Kingston on Tuesday and hosts Port Angeles today in an Olympic League game.
Mary M. Knight Track
Mary M. Knight’s Drake Jenkins competed in the shot put and discus at a league track and field meet at Montesano on March 17.
Jenkins placed seventh in the shot put with a throw of 33 feet, 3 inches. Jenkins finished 14th in the discus with a throw of 68 feet, seven inches.
The Owls travel to South Bend today for a league meet.
