Larry Case

Larry Thomas Case, 78, a longtime resident of Agate, passed away on Sept. 23, 2021, in Shelton, WA after a brief but valiant battle with brain and lung cancer.

He was born in Shelton on May 27, 1943, to Jack and Tommye Doris (Cook) Case, and spent his early years near the Hamma Hamma River. The family later moved to Oakridge, OR, where he graduated from Oakridge High School. He joined the Navy and later the Navy Reserve, serving as a radioman from 1963-1969 and seeing active duty in Viet Nam. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. After his discharge, he married the former Drenna Mae McCoy, who gave him two daughters, Tami and Jacqualine. His girls were the light of his life and they remember him as a wonderful father. She preceded him in death when the girls were very young. He was remarried to (then) Esther Marlar of Seattle. After they divorced, he was married for many years to Carolyn Hadaller, of Seattle.

Larry worked for Bell Telephone (and all its later incarnations) for 37 years in the Seattle and Shelton/Olympia areas before retiring to Agate. He enjoyed watching Seahawks games and also loved sitting on the back porch, enjoying his view of Hammersley Inlet and all its beauty. He kept close watch over the many birds who called his apple tree home. For many years he was a very active member of Shelton's Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 1684, serving in many offices including that of Governor.

Larry was preceded in death by wife Drenna and his parents. He is survived by wife Carolyn; daughters Tami (husband Don) Weiler of Bozeman, MT and Jacqualine Case of Shelton; by sister Nancy Case of Hood River, OR and brother Wayne (wife Liz) of Belfair; by grandchildren Thomas Healy, Jake Weiler, Andrew Rapacz, Brittney Garcia-Cerna, Kendall Weiler, and Zach Weiler; by three great-grandchildren, and by six nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service with Naval Honors was held at the family home on a bright, sunny day in October.
