The Shelton girls soccer team won a pair of games against Aberdeen and Rochester last week in Evergreen Conference matches.
The Highclimbers took down Aberdeen 2-1 in a shootout last Thursday, its first game in more than two weeks. Senior Sarah Jacoby booted home the game-winning penalty kick and freshman goalkeeper Cassie Muenchow made a big save to secure the win for Shelton.
Shelton hit the road last Friday to take on Rochester and boarded the bus home after a 2-0 victory. Junior Delfina Ramirez scored on an assist from junior Laila Hanson and the insurance goal was scored by senior Brooklyn McMullin on an assist by freshman Tatum Dickey.
The Highclimbers faced the Bobcats with just 11 players.
"I think it speaks a lot to the team leadership we have on the squad," Shelton head coach Colin McGrane said. "We have two seniors in the back, Sarah Jacoby and Anna Barkman, that anchor our defense. We're one of the more defensive teams in the league and as a program, I pride myself on the effort they put in on the defensive side. It's really nice to string a couple wins together. They're seeing the effort they put into training payoff and we're excited for a big week we have."
Shelton faced Centralia at home Tuesday, travels to Rochester today and hosts Black Hills on Saturday in EvCo contests.
