North Mason Girls soccer

The North Mason High School girls soccer team leveled its record at 1-1 with a 3-1 win over visiting Bremerton on Sept. 16 at Phil Pugh Stadium in Belfair.

Senior forward Abigail Green scored twice in the final 10 minutes of the match to break a 1-1 tie.

Green’s first came after she latched onto a chipped ball near the center circle and drove one-on-one into the box before letting loose what would become the match-winning goal.

Green converted a penalty kick in stoppage time to seal the victory.

Emma Woodell scored for North Mason in the first half.

Volleyball

The Bulldog volleyball team fell to 0-2 with a 3-1 setback to visiting Bremerton on Sept. 16 at Bulldog Gym in Belfair.

The Knights won the first two sets and then held off North Mason’s comeback bit in the fourth.

Football

North Mason’s Olympic League opener at North Kitsap, scheduled for Sept. 17, was canceled due to COVID related problems in the Bulldogs program. North Mason is scheduled to open its season against Kingston at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Phil Pugh Stadium.

Shelton Volleyball

The Climbers entered the week 2-0 after wins over Olympic and Elma.

Girls soccer

The Shelton High School girls soccer team drew Elma 1-1 in a nonconference match Sept. 14 at Jack Stark Field and then fell 2-0 to Black Hills on Sept. 16 in Tumwater.

Girls swimming

Shelton had a strong showing against Eatonville last Thursday in a dual meet at Eatonville High School.

The 200-yard medley relay of Abbi Sachs, Fiona Dowling, Leila Ollenburg and Kaylin Mutoli won with a time of 2:12.63.

Madeline Allred won the 200-yard and 100-yard freestyle, Pandora Ward won the 50-yard freestyle and Alli Sachs won the 100-yard butterfly and the 500-yard freestyle and Mutoli won the 100-yard backstroke for the Highclimbers.

Allred, Ward, Ollenburg and Alli Sachs won the 200-yard freestyle relay. Alli Sachs, Allred, Mutoli and Abbi Sachs won the 400-yard freestayle relay.

Boys golf

Shelton dropped its first three matches of the season.

Shelton fell to Aberdeen 223-234. Holmes Waltermire had the best round for the Highclimbers with a 44.

The Highclimbers lost at Alderbrook to Centralia, 261-276. Waltermire shot a 49 and Cannon Hutson recorded a 54 for the Highclimbers.

Tumwater defeated Shelton 217-241. Waltermire and Carson Harmon each shot a 46 for Shelton.

Boys tennis

Shelton is 3-1 this season, defeating Black Hills, Eatonville and Tumwater but losing to W.F. West.

Mary M. Knight Volleyball

The Mary M. Knight High School volleyball team entered the week at 0-3 overall after dropping 3-0 decisons to Pe Ell and Sound Christian last week.
