Campfire ban lifted for Olympic and North Cascades National Park

Interagency fire managers announced the campfire ban in Olympic National Park, Olympic National Forest and North Cascades National Park Service Complex has been lifted.

According to a news release, the ban was lifted last Thursday, and the decision was made due to the fire danger moderating with cooler, moist weather and rainfall in the upcoming forecast. Although the restrictions have been lifted, park visitors are reminded to take precautions to ensure fire safety. Washington and the nation remain at Preparedness Level 5, the highest level of wildland fire activity. The majority of firefighting resources are deployed due to wildland fire activity throughout the country.

Visitors are asked to consider fireworks are always prohibited on federal land, learning the restrictions before going camping and if smoking, always dispose of cigarette debris in some type of ashtray to reduce the risk of human-caused wildfires.
