The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association announced updated winter state championship guidelines Jan. 26. According to the news release, WIAA state bowling championships at Narrows Plaza in University Place this weekend will see each classification complete all competition on one day, with 1A/2A competing Friday. North Mason High School has hired Rob Thomas as its new head football coach, athletic director Lexi Hadfield announced in a Friday news release. Thomas was the Bulldogs' defensive coordinated and associate head coach during the past two seasons. Thomas is also North Mason's head bowling and baseball coach. The Hood Canal Salmon Enhancement Group has purchased 50 acres of the Big Beef Creek property. HCSEG now has 302 acres of habitat at Big Beef Creek, located near Seabeck in Kitsap County, across Hood Canal from Brinnon. A creek nearby is called Little Beef Creek.
